(1) Postpone the Deadline of Abstract Submission

The new deadline of abstract submission is 21 August 2015. The deadlines of the registration and hotel reservation are 15 September 2015.

(2) Updated Information on the VarSITI Data Analysis Session

This session will be held through the collaboration of VarSITI and the STE Events Report and Analysis Workshop (STE Gensho Houkoku-Kai), which is a Japanese activity sponsored by the Solar-Terrestrial Environment Laboratory, Nagoya University.

We are planning to separate this session into two parts.

The first one, which will be held in the afternoon of the second day of the Workshop (29 Sep.), will be dedicated to collaborative data analyses of selected events taken place in the latest half an year. The principal event to be discussed is the “St. Patrick’s Day 2015 Event” covering the interval from 15-18 March 2015, in which solar eruptive phenomena (a long-enduring C9-class solar flare and associated CME(s) on 15 March) and a strong geomagnetic storm were reported on 16-18 March (Max. DST was -228 nT). As mentioned in the 2nd Circular, this magnetic storm is the largest one ever observed in the current solar cycle, but no important solar-particle enhancement was observed. For a comparative analysis, we selected one more event taken place on 21-24 June 2015 (the Summer Solstice 2015 Event) which included a series of M-class solar flares, a high-speed halo CME, and a strong geomagnetic storm (Max. Dst was -195 nT). An enhancement of solar energetic particles was observed in this case. We welcome your contributions including presentation on related data and outcomes of data analyses. More information on these events will be posted in our Web pages.

The second part of the Data Analysis Session will be held in the morning of the third day (30 Sep.). This part will be allocated to presentations of outcomes of data analyses of VarSITI Campaign Intervals and others. We also welcome your contributions to this part of the Data Analysis Session.
