[1] An African School on Space Science took place in Rwanda, Kigali City (University of Rwanda -Head Quarters) from 30th June to 11th July 2014.

The School was jointly organized by the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP, Italy), the Institute of Scientific Research of Boston College (B.C , USA) and the University of Rwanda (UR) College of Science and Technology(CST).

The 63 participants came from these countries: Ethiopia.(1); Burundi.(1); Kenya..(6); Uganda..(6); Tanzania.(1); Rwanda.(15); Switzerland..(1); France..(2); Italy..(5); Zambia..(2); Algeria.(1); Malawi..(1); USA.(8); Guinee..(1); Nigeria.(5); South Africa.(2); Egypt..(1); Ivory Coast..(4);

[4] Online registration for the "2015 UN/Japan Workshop on Space Weather" is now underway at this United Nations website:
http://www.oosa.unvienna.org/oosa/en/SAP/act2015/japan/index.html

It is open to anyone as there is no registration fee -- but you are expected to present something in oral-format or poster-format. In return, you can enjoy the sights, sounds, and delicious food of Fukuoka in the deep south of Japan. (See "Host City and Workshop Venue" section of the aforementioned webpage -- this section is new.)

Based on submitted abstracts and competitive evaluation, roughly 30 persons will be provided with air-fare and accommodations (from UN funds) to attend this workshop in March. Naturally, preference will be given to applicants from developing nations. Dead line for applications is the end of November. Hope to meet you in Fukuoka, where I live.

The Canadian Solar Workshop provides a relatively informal workshop-type venue where the Canadian Solar Physics and Space Weather communities can meet and discuss research activities in their groups, exchange ideas and foster collaborative endeavours.
